12/6/2006 James Kim found deceased | CNET News.comI really liked James Kim's reports. As a matter of fact I might still have one on my TiVo. They had a real life feel to them as opposed to the overpaid techie vibe I got from a lot of the others on CNet. Now he's gone in what appears to be an attempt to save his family. Godspeed James, you will be missed 10/19/2006 Funniest site of the dayThanks to BoingBoing, I found this site: http://capalert.com/capreports/index.htm It's a list of movie reviews with a highly conversative Christian slant. Best thing is that they assign a metric to their reviews. Points off for things that offend them. The usual things get points off (sex, violence, bad language, etc) but funnier is points off for Darwinism and other 'offenses to God'. Read the reviews for movies like Muppets from Space, Dogma & the first Pokemon movie. Absolutely hilarious. Funnier still is the thought that someone sat through a movie (possibly multiple times) to count how many 'offenses' a movie had. 9/21/2006 Sharing my map pushpins... not sure how this will work
Quote My Live Local collection 9/11/2006 Must everything be an 'edition'?Being an anime enthusiast I'm used to things being:
... but while food shopping I saw this Special edition Alka-Seltzer? OK, so they've been around for 75 years, I get that but a shiny box is not going to get me to buy Alka-Seltzer. 8/23/2006 Yeah, I've got kids...I may not have ever posted anything about my kids. I've got two, a sixteen year old boy and a twelve year old girl. They're quite the entertaining lot: Yeah, that's the boy. He got stuck in the ladder up to his loft bed since he decided to reach through it to pick up some laundry. Of course, I had to take a pic of it before helping him. I'm a good dad... Being a twelve year old girl means that you brood a lot. 8/22/2006 Halloween comes way too early
It's only August 21st and my local A&P has already put out the Halloween candy. When I was a kid (OK, I just had to say that... yeah it makes me sound old.... because I am) the "Back to School" stuff was still around because you were getting ready to go back to school. Now holidays are creeping earlier and earlier in the year. The way things are going the Christmas stuff should be out by late September when you're not even ready for Halloween. 8/14/2006 LiveWriter Test6/22/2006 Things you can't judge about yourselfYeah.... long time no talk but the boy mentioned that I should post some of my 'wisdom' here
The first nugget is this:
There are certain things you really can't judge about yourself since you're too close to the source:
9/5/2005 Basil is the enemy of happinessDuring a discussion of the smells of an Italian kitchen and my dislike for basil we realized that the phrase "Basil is the enemy of happiness" didn't show up anywhere in Google. So, I decided to create an entry containing it to see how long it would take for Google to pick it up.
Take that Google!
8/5/2005 Blurring the focus...OK, I've decided that focusing on the various & sundry pains that I feel is a bit depressing... so I've decided to widen the focus of this blog. Now I'll use it as a dumping ground for anything good or bad that I feel the need to doucment. I'm sure you're all happy to know since everyone knows that their own blog is the most important thing in the universe 6/13/2005 Keep on, keepin' onOK, I'm back on Oxaprozin and attempting to counteract any gastro-intestinal effects with other stuff. So far, so good. Let's see what happens in the battlefield that is my lower GI tract. Ought to be fun 6/1/2005 Less queasy... more constipationIs there not a pain medication without funktastic gastrointestinal side effects? So, after a few weeks of taking Oxaprozin I start noticing that I'm getting a little backed up in the poop department. Nothing too bad but I noticed. Yesterday, though was a whole new world of lower GI oddities. I could barely 'go' and when I did it nearly literally ripped me a new a**hole. Damn painful So, I'm laying off oxaprozin for a few days to see if that's the root cause. If so, I guess the ball is back in the doctor's court to find me something that doesn't make my insides want to be on the outside 5/4/2005 New pills, less queasyI forgot to post something about the new pills - Oxaprozin: So far, so good... less pain and no queasiness so far. 4/11/2005 Life without Mobic = Life without 'sea sickness'Been off Mobic since Friday and the pounding headache & queasiness have subsided. Guess my dosage was either off or Mobic just doesn't agree with me. Have to call the doctor tomorrow to get the low-down. Hopefully there's something out there that dulls the pain yet doesn't make me want to heave 4/7/2005 Rough sailing on the Good Ship MobicI've been feeling headachy & queasy every morning this week around the same time (about 8:00AM). I just saw this text on the Mobic site: In clinical trials, the most common side effects were diarrhea, indigestion, headache, and flu-like symptoms. Tell your doctor if you experience any unusual symptoms. Hmmm, guess I'll be calling the doctor tomorrow.
4/2/2005 The cast & crewI probably should mention who everyone is around here since I might just drop a name or two into an entry: Me - Vince, the idiot typing this stuff which no one will probably read Susan - my wife for the last 15+ years. I usually call her Suzi Vin - our son, almost 15 years old (yes, my wife got pregnant during our honeymoon). Jessica - our daughter, 11 years old I'll try to find pictures of them all later so you can put a face (most of them are cute with the notable exception of me) to the names. DMV trip cancelledWell, the trip to the DMV got postponed since the person with the paperwork for Suzi's car can't get to it (the paperwork) until Tuesday. Not sure why but that's the story he's telling me. So, I get to stay nice, warm & dry for a few more hours.
Ought to be a fun dayIt's gonna be a cold wet day here in lovely Bayonne. I've got to go to the local DMV to get Suzi's car registered. Combined those factors usually mean loads of pain. I'm about to take Mobic now so it's in my blood by the time the pain factors kick me in the ass. I'll post later to give the low-down 3/31/2005 Forgot to mention this yesterdayAs far as medication goes, I'm taking 15mg of Mobic daily: http://www.mobictablet.com/mobicWeb/jsp/about.jsp So far I haven't had any of the stomach wrenching side-effects I was having with Alleve. On the downside, I'm still having some pain although I can't be sure that the pain wouldn't be worse without the pills since I'm afraid to not take them. 3/30/2005 Pain journalWell, on the suggestion of my son I've decided to keep a 'pain journal' to keep details of the highs & lows in my ongoing 'struggle' with Fibromyalgia (I thinks that's the spelling of it). Figured I'd start on an OK day. No pain of any spectacular kind to report. Not that I'd expect much since it's a relatively nice day here and I'm on vacation (no stress).
